Design and Access Statements

These are required for all applications except a change of use (unless it involves operational development), engineering or mining operations.

It consists of a report explaining the design principles of a development proposal, particularly how it relates to the local context. The access element of the statement should explain how the external access arrangements would ensure all users would have equal and convenient access to buildings.

For applications relating to domestic development a design and access statement can be presented on form DA1 attached to the application pack.

Any reports resulting from pre-application archaeological investigation should form part of the required design and access statement, but can be submitted as a separate document.
