Bowden Bridge, Hayfield
Map ref: SK 048869
The main car park lies in an old quarry. This is the site of the start of the 1932 mass trespass onto Kinder Scout which was a catalyst in obtaining public access onto moorlands for recreation. The car park is tarmaced, giving smooth access onto Kinder Road. Interpretive panel in the car park to which wheelchair access would be difficult.
A refreshment vehicle operates at busy times; picnic tables are provided, some of which should be accessible to those in wheelchairs (at the ends). Small kerb between car park and picnic benches.
The toilet block is about 75m away and contains one suitable for use by disabled people. Disabled use of the toilet is via a RADAR key, vehicle space available to visit toliet only. No spaces allocated in car park for disabled users.
