Ashbourne Cycle Hire Centre

Ashbourne Cycle Hire Centre can be found at the southern tip of the famous Tissington Trail within the boundaries of the Peak District National Park.  The centre itself is just outside of the town of Ashbourne which provides visitors with a wide range of amenities from accommodation to a pub.  The centre is easy to find and access on several roads.  These include the A515 which connects the centre with Buxton, as well as the A52 linking it to Derby.

The cycle centre is open everyday through the summer season which spans from March till October.  Opening hours are between 9.30am and 5.00pm.  There are several exceptions throughout the summer season however when the centre is open half an hour later each evening, these include a two week period from the 23rd of March to the 7th of April, two days between the 4th of May and the 6th, a week between the 25th of May and the 2nd of June, and the 20th of July to the 1st of September.  The centre is also open between November and February on weekends, as well as the February half term week.  Winter opening is however subject to weather conditions.

Prices at the centre vary depending on the type of bike and age of the customer.  A standard bike for an adult will cost £13.00 for half a day, £16.00 for the full day, £25.00 for two days with every day after two costing just £10.00.  A junior bike costs £9.00 for a half day, £11.00 for a full day, £15.00 for two days with additional days costing £7.00.  There are also bikes with baby seats available for a small extra premium.  Discounts are available for schools with bikes costing just £9.00 for the whole day.  A mountain bike is also available which costs £25.00 for a full day, £45.00 for two days, and £17.00 for subsequent days.  Equipment is handed out to visitors free of charge and includes cycle helmets, puncture repair kits, as well as maps of the surrounding area.  A deposit of £20.00 is required as well as proof of identification. 

The most popular route for visitors to the centre is the Tissington trail which provides miles of traffic free cycling through the countryside.  There are also several more routes which have been opened up in recent years.  Ashbourne town centre is also just a short ride away and has a range of shops and pubs.
